Warning! This diving speciality is not for those afraid of the dark. Night diving is a whole new way to experience scuba diving and there is nothing more exhilarating than descending into dark water, guided only by the beam of your torch. With a whole new array of nocturnal marine life and the illuminated spectre of other divers, night diving is all about stepping into the unknown.

The Benefits

Learning the night diver speciality is a great way to highly develop your existing diving skills; such as your navigation at night and buoyancy control. You will experience the rush of stepping of into the darkness and discovering the underwater world at night.

What You Learn

  • Night dive planning, organization, procedures, skills and preventing problems
  • Controlling your buoyancy at night
  • Entries, exits consideration and underwater navigation at night
  • Nocturnal marine life, many of the plants and animals you’ll see are different at night

The Dive Gear You Use

You will use the standard diving equipment, along with a dive light, backup diving torch, compass and glow-sticks

The Learning Materials Included

The PADI Night Diver crew pack (manual and video on DVD) this will help you prepare for your first night dives with a PADI night diving specialist Instructor. Topics covered include: Skills for navigating at night, night diving procedures, establishing an entry and exit point, and how to maintain your underwater light system.

Prerequisites

You must be

  • A PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization).
  • At least 12 years old.

Path to Master Scuba Diver

If you have already completed the PADI Open Water course then you are no doubt eager to learn more. Continuing your diver education cannot be more beneficial to you as a diver.

It should be the goal of every diver to pursue the status of Master Scuba Diver. Continue your diver education up to Rescue diver and complete 5 PADI specialties of your choice to receive your MASTER SCUBA DIVER status.
