It is often said that the search and recovery specialist course is as demanding and rewarding as the PADI Rescue course. Learning to navigate a search pattern and understand the procedures required to lift heavy object from deep water is a practical skill that elevates divers to new levels.

What You Learn

• Search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures and skills to prevent problems

• Limited visibility underwater search skills

The Dive Gear You Use

You will use the standard dive gear, an underwater compass and a lift bag.

The Learning Materials Included

The Search and Recovery crew pack (DVD and manual) includes the PADI S&R manual, a search pattern reference guide, knot-tying diagrams and an overview of how to organize an underwater search.

Prerequisites

To take the PADI Search and Recovery Diver course, you must be:

• A certified PADI (junior) Advanced Open Water Diver
• A PADI (junior) Open Water Diver and a PADI Underwater Navigator (or equivalent certification from another organization)
• At least 12 years old

Path to Master Scuba Diver

If you have already completed the PADI Open Water course then you are no doubt eager to learn more. Continuing your diver education cannot be more beneficial to you as a diver.

It should be the goal of every diver to pursue the status of Master Scuba Diver. Continue your diver education up to Rescue diver and complete 5 PADI specialties of your choice to receive your MASTER SCUBA DIVER status.
